An American Cares

(Updated 2008-01-25)

An American Cares is a website dedicated to the establishment of legislation that will set up up a website for Americans to come and find addresses/organizations to send relief packages to using pre-paid boxes. (For more complete information, please see the History link on the left.)

Specifically what the legislation would do is:
  1. Have the US Post Office offer prepaid An American Cares shipping boxes in several sizes (say $10, $25, $50, ...) that US citizens could pack with needed items (stuff we don't use any more and would probably throw out anyway) and send to various organizations (orphanages, schools, refugee camps, churches, ...) throughout the world.

  2. Establish a website where people can obtain the address of a legitimate needy organization to send the An American Cares package to.

  3. Establish a national An American Cares Day. Not a holiday but just a reminder to people of the program. Like Mother's day, for example.

See the History link on the left for details.

This site is (going to be) maintained by volunteers. If you want to help with An American Cares (and a LOT of help really is needed) please see the Can you Help link and the What You Can Do Now link (You might be surprised how little it will take on your part.).
